We did it! 200,000 miles!

The Caravan hit 200,000 miles on the odometer today.

The Caravanettes were with me to witness the milestone.

What a glorious day.  I've been getting a lot of handshakes, high-fives, pats on the back, and even a few slaps on the butt (which I didn't care for).

Odometer, mid-August Gas

The caravan is finally over 177,000 miles.

August 13:
214.7 miles / 10.185 gallons = 21.08 mpg

I'm surprised I was able to achieve 21 mpg considering I had the air conditioner turned on a few times. It was very humid outside for about 3 weeks. This was with 89 octane (10% ethanol). The next gas update will be with 87 octane (no ethanol). Check back for the results.

Christmas Ornaments Revisited

I have added a few more ornaments since my last Ornament post. I now have a total of 10 Dodge Caravan ornaments. Judging by the pictures, you can tell which one is easier to find on eBay.

Milestone

Beulah hit the 175K mark early this morning. The gifts and congratulations have been overwhelming. Thank you for your support.

2 Bedrooms with Front-Wheel Drive

Plymouth Voyager, The Magic Wagon: it can turn itself into a camper.

I'm assuming this was from the late 1980's, since Plymouth used a first generation Voyager in the picture. Sorry about the tear, but also, you're welcome for uploading a part of Chrysler Corporation minivan history.

Thanks to Brian for finding this advertisement in an old Reader's Digest magazine.

Key Fob

Here's a picture of my caravan's key fob. I use it for valet parking.

CD Receiver

Last week, I installed an Alpine CDE-102 CD receiver in my caravan. Goodbye, factory stereo with cassette player. I don't think it's as nice as my old Alpine (CDM-9803), but I'll be damned if I have to listen to AM/FM radio one more minute. The CDE-102 offers front-panel USB and auxiliary inputs, which I probably won't be using.

RMS Power Output is 18 watts, with a Peak Output of 45 watts.
RMS Power Bandwith is 20-20kHz.
FM Sensitivity is 9.3 dBf, with 12 FM Presets and 6 AM Presets.
CD Frequency Response is 5-20kHz, and CD Signal-to-Noise is 105 dB.

Maintenance

Nice weather today, so I decided to change the oil. I bought a box of Valvoline Max Life (5W-30) a few weeks ago, I assumed I was getting the non-synthetic oil. When I opened the box, I was very little happy with what was inside. 12 quarts of Max Life synthetic blend! Damn you, Valvoline!

In addition to changing the oil and oil filter (pain in the butt to reach), I replaced the front wipers and added a can of Seafoam to the gas tank.

Stereo

On November 26, I took out the Alpine stereo. It wasn't able to stay on (only intermittent power), so I removed it and re-installed the factory radio.

AM/FM STEREO electronically tuned, Dynamic Noise Reduction*, bass and treble contols, cassette tape player with automatic reverse, and integral digital clock.

* Dynamic Noise Reduction is a trademark of National Semiconductor Corporation.

We Did It!

On November 22, 2008, we landed on a personal milestone. I forgot to keep an eye on it when I was driving home from work. While in park, with the van shut off, on my way out the door, I glanced and celebrated. I didn't miss the rollover.

Engine

V6 3.0L. 3-speed automatic transmission.
I no longer use the K&N air filter. I didn't care for it.
