In April:

Both of the front axle shafts and hub assemblies, as well as the left output shaft seal were removed and replaced. The parts cost more than the labor.

The caravan is due for an oil change, too. I can handle this job on my own.

Update

I haven't done too much work on the van lately, just replaced the lower radiator hose. It would slowly lose pressure during the pressure test.

I've been thinking about selling my 1999 Chrysler 300M and stick with one vehicle. The 300M does better on interstate road trips, but I don't do much driving anymore, and when I do drive, the caravan has handled the winter weather better. This would probably cut my insurance and maintenance bills in half.

Maintenance

On Tuesday, I had my mechanic change the fuel filter, which had not been changed since August 2007. He also put on four new hose clamps, and replaced about one foot of fuel line.

Maintenance - PCV

I finally replaced the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve and hose today. I think this is the first time it's been replaced on my caravan.

Also, the snow tires were removed (no more winter!), and the sport wagon wheels are back on. All it needs now is a good wash.

Caravan odometer = 170,443 miles.

September Maintenance (Part 2)

September 24, 2008 - My Caravan = 169,609 miles.

I drove my caravan to a Chrysler dealership on Monday (22nd). I brought it there in July to change the transmission fluid and filter. But now the transmission was bump shifting from 1st to 2nd. It turns out there was a little too much transmission fluid in it, so they leveled it out. It seems to be running all right for now.

Today, I added 1/2 quart of oil (5w-30 Valvoline MaxLife synthetic blend) to the crankcase since it was a little low.

September Maintenance (Part 1)

September 22, 2008 - My Caravan = 169,525 miles.

There is a bump when the transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd. I should probably get that checked and scanned.

Maintenance work on September 17, 2008 - replaced the water pump, timing belt, and thermostat.
